The Balalaika and Domra Association
of America (BDAA)
presents
the 38th Annual Convention
July 17-23, 2016
Bloomington, Indiana, U.S.A.
Convention Headquarters
Courtyard by Marriott
Bloomington will be our lodging for the
week. It is connected by an enclosed walkway to
the Bloomington/Monroe
County Convention Center where our
workshops, rehearsals, and evening parties will be
held. Three types of guest rooms can be requested
for the same price: 2 Queens; 2 Queens with sofa bed;
King with sofa bed.
The BDAA rate is $102 per
night (plus 12% tax), but also offers a room rate that
includes a breakfast buffet option. A $5 higher rate of
$107 gives up to 2 people breakfast coupons for the
week. For a third room guest to have the buffet, the
room rate is $112.
The BDAA breakfast buffet
will include juice, coffee and tea, continental-style
items like pastries and bagels, and one or two hot items
such as eggs or oatmeal. Keep in mind there is a small
bistro in the hotel lobby that has a limited menu of hot
items, salads and sandwiches for breakfast and dinner.
There is also a 24-hour Kroger grocery store a short
walk away, and many interesting nearby restaurants and
coffeeshops. But the buffet offers a convenient,
economical way to start the day before morning
workshops.
To
make reservations online, click the link in the
frame below which will take you directly to the
BDAA-rate page. You will only see the $102
rate. To book the breakfast buffet rate: on the
third Reservations page you will see
a section called “Your Requests”.
Click on the gray box that says “Make
Request”. Scroll to the bottom of
resulting window called “Preference
Summary” and enter your preference for the
breakfast buffet on the last box that
says “Any Special Requests or Needs.”
For instance, enter “2 for breakfast
buffet.” The hotel will then
know that you want the buffet for 2 people and
that your rate will be $107, not $102.
Simply indicate how many people will want the
breakfast buffet (2 people at a room rate of $107 or 3
at a room rate of $112). When you finish the
online transaction, you will still see $102
rate. Within a few days, the hotel will email
you a new confirmation reflecting the breakfast rate.
To make reservations by phone, you
can call the main reservations line, 1-800-321-2211, or
call the hotel directly at 1-812-335-8000.
Mention the three-letter booking
code BDA or
the group name BDAAJuly 2016. Be sure
to request the type room you want: 2 Queens, 2
Queens with sofa bed or King with sofa bed. The
reservationist will quote you
$102 if you don’t ask
for the breakfast option, $107 if you
book the breakfast buffet for 2, or
$112 for the breakfast buffet for 3
people. The reservationist will need
your phone number since the hotel will
call you closer to the convention to
reconfirm your breakfast buffet
request. If you should
encounter any problems in booking by
phone, call the hotel front desk directly
at 1-812-335-8000 and ask for sales
coordinator Caitlin McKinley. We also want to know if
you experience any booking issues, in
which case you should contact
co-coordinator Irene McCullough.
